In April local police chiefs joined with the Police & Sheriff's Association in supporting the Asian American and Pacific Islander community.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — The Orange County Sheriff's Department, District Attorney, and police chiefs from across the county joined with the Orange County Chiefs of Police and Sheriff's Association in their condemnation of bigotry and hate crimes against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.

This month, Newport Beach Police Chief Jon T. Lewis added his department to the long list of police chiefs who condemn hate crimes and bigotry on their watch.

"We condemn hate crimes and bigotry acts against these communities and remain committed to our role in protecting these individuals from hateful acts," writes Lewis, who also serves as the president of the Orange County Chiefs of Police & Sheriff's Association.
