Newport Beach: Watch District 2 Supervisor Hopefuls Face-Off
Candidates met over Zoom to discuss issues, only three of the candidates appeared at the Newport Beach Chamber sponsored Zoom event.
NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Three candidates out of five signed in to a Zoom conference to discuss issues affecting District 2 of the Orange County Supervisors. Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce president Steven Rosansky moderated the event.
Those present at the event, hosted by several Chambers of Commerce, hoped to reach voters from Buena Park, Costa Mesa, Cypress, Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach, La Palma, Los Alamitos, Newport Beach, Rossmoor, Seal Beach, Stanton in the special election.
The seat for District 2 opened after Orange County Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Michelle Steel unseated Harley Rouda in District 48 for the congressional seat. Approximately 400,000 ballots mailed to voters, and drop boxes are open through March 9, according to the Orange County Registrar of Voter's Office.

At the forum was former state Senator John Moorlach of Newport Beach, Mayor Pro Tem Kevin Muldoon, Janet Rappaport—tax attorney, and absent were Costa Mesa Mayor Katrina Foley and Fountain Valley Mayor Michael Vo.
Foley told the Los Angeles Times of a scheduling conflict, making her unable to attend while Vo was committed to attending Lunar New Year events.
