The last votes were tallied at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. Votes were anticipated to be updated at 5 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Registrar of Voters Office.
Due to the switch to vote centers, instead of voting precincts, there is no way to immediately track how many ballots cast on Tuesday remain to be counted.
State law also allows the counting of mail ballots received as late as 17 days after election day, the OC Registrar of Voters says.
As votes are counted, results fluctuate until the Registrar of Voters declares a winner. A timeline was established by Registrar Neal Kelley's office, showcasing how and when counts will be updated in Orange County.
