OC Football Great, Colton Brennan Dies At Hoag Hospital

Colton Brennan, 37, a graduate of Mater Dei High School & Saddleback College, died early Tuesday at Hoag Memorial Hospital in Newport Beach.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Orange County Coroner's Office announced that Irvine resident Colton Brennan, 37, died early Tuesday at Hoag Memorial Hospital in Newport Beach.

He was 37.

The Orange County Register reports that Brennan was the quarterback from Mater Dei High School and Saddleback College. He went on to play at both the University of Hawaii and was drafted into the NFL.

His father, Terry Brennan, disclosed to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser's Stephen Tsai that his son was surrounded by family at the time of his death.

"He went peacefully," Terry Brennan told the Star-Advertiser. "He listened to Bob Marley. His sisters had a lei around him when he was unconscious. They had the music of Bob Marley playing near his ear."

The cause of his death has not yet been released.
