OC Strut BAR & CLUB Reopens: Drag Is Back: Bingo, Brunch & More

COSTA MESA, CA —Following a pandemic-related shutdown after its brief, six-month opening, Orange County's Strut BAR & CLUB is back with a reopening entertainment lineup of drag-queen bingo & brunches, Ru Paul Drag Race viewing parties, disco, bar-bite specials and happy hour.

“We opened in late September 2019, so we were only around for six months before we had to close due to the pandemic," said Luke Nero, Strut BAR & CLUB founder. "This affected not only us as a business, but Orange County’s large community of young people, who came to Strut for a place to truly be themselves without judgment.”

Located at 719 W. 19th St. in Costa Mesa, Strut fills "the void of queer spaces in Orange County with a lively, comfortable and safe space for all people, of all interests, from all walks of life to experience and enjoy," according to management.

On the Strut entertainment calendar:

• Drag Queen Bingo: Thursdays from 7–9 p.m. with vivacious host, Wilhelmina Caviar, Arrive early and stay late for Strawberry Disco featuring live house and techno music beginning at 9 p.m.
• Drag Queen Bingo Fridays at 8 p.m. Saturdays are for Les Girls, a drag dinner and show featuring Kristina Minka, April Showers, Sriracha and Wilhelmina Caviar from 7–9 p.m.
• Drag Brunch, Sundays at 1 p.m. The special programming joins Strut’s continued weekend DJ lineup Friday and Saturday nights until close.

Strut’s new culinary program is offered Thursday through Sunday from 6–10 p.m. and introduces a Bar Bites menu including flatbreads, chicken wings, grilled cheese and more, courtesy of Chef Mark Cleveland. Enjoy Happy Hour drink specials from 6–9 p.m. Thursday through Sunday highlighting $8 specialty cocktails, $4 beers and $6 wines.

Strut staff and guests must wear masks when walking throughout the venue. Reservations are encouraged and guests will be given designated tables during their visit where servers will take orders.
