Supervisorial District Vacancy Election Underway: Where To Vote
Voting centers will open Saturday for the 2nd Supervisorial District election. The special election will be held on March 9.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — The Orange County Water District will serve as a four-day Vote Center for the Orange County Board of Supervisors’ Second Supervisorial District Vacancy Election from Saturday, March 6 through Tuesday, March 9, they said.
The Water District Vote Center is one of 14 Vote Centers throughout the county. Multiple Ballot Drop Boxes are also available for voters.
The upcoming special election will fill the vacant Orange County District 2 supervisor seat, held previously by former supervisor Michelle Steel, who was elected to represent California’s 48th District in Congress this past November. Candidates

The Second District includes Costa Mesa, Cypress, Huntington Beach, La Palma, Los Alamitos, Newport Beach, Seal Beach, Stanton, the unincorporated area of Rossmoor, and portions of Buena Park and Fountain Valley.

The winner of the special election will serve on the Orange County Board of Supervisors until 2022.
District President Stephen R. Sheldon spoke on the opening.
“The District welcomes the opportunity to host a Vote Center for this important election in our county,” Sheldon said. “Local elections are critical to the democratic process and are the foundation for making decisions that impact our daily lives. We look forward to playing an important role in the election process by allowing voters to cast their ballots at OCWD.
OCWD Vote Center hours are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, and from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. OCWD is located at 18700 Ward Street, Fountain Valley.
The District and the Orange County Registrar of Voters are taking precautions to prioritize the health and safety of voters, including: increased signage, physically distanced floor markers, one-way traffic, hand sanitizing stations, single-use items when appropriate, disinfecting voting equipment throughout the day, and personal protective equipment worn by all Vote Center customer service representatives. Voters will be offered a face-covering should they not have one when they arrive at a Vote Center and will be asked to adhere to all health and safety guidelines laid out by the Orange County Registrar of Voters.
Voters may go to any Vote Center in the county and are not limited to a pre-selected polling place. For additional information about the Orange County Board of Supervisors’ special election, including the locations of other Vote Centers, please visit www.ocvote.com.
This is the third time that the District has hosted a Vote Center at its office. Last year, OCWD proudly hosted a Vote Center for the 2020 primary election and 2020 presidential election.
