Uptown Newport, a walkable urban village being developed by Shopoff Realty Investments, was honored at this year’s Gold Nugget Awards ceremony in San Francisco.
The prestigious contest drew nearly 600 entries from architects and developers around the globe.
Uptown Newport, a mixed-use retail and residential project near John Wayne Airport, received a merit award in the category for Best On the Boards Site Plan.

“We are thrilled to see Uptown Newport capture a Gold Nugget Merit Award, which recognizes excellence and innovation in addressing complex design/build issues,” said William Shopoff, president and CEO of Shopoff Realty Investments. “This honor underscores the hard work and creativity that went into the design of our project.”
The awards were presented late last month at PCBC, the real estate development industry’s largest regional conference and trade show, now in its 51st year. Contest entries came from across the U.S., as well as from Canada, Mexico, Dubai, Egypt, China, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Ireland, Iceland, Singapore, South Korea, Mongolia, Tibet and the Philippines.

When completed, Uptown Newport will transform a pair of aging industrial buildings on 25 acres into a vibrant urban village featuring 1,244 luxury homes, numerous retail shops, two 1-acre parks, plazas, fountains and public paseos.
MVE & Partners designed the plans and architectural guidelines for the project. “It was a pleasure collaborating with the team at MVE & Partners, who are leaders in design, both in the U.S. and internationally,” Shopoff said.
Shopoff Realty Investments is serving as Uptown Newport’s master developer and has started the demolition work to deliver the site improvements to the phase I builders.
