Working At Disneyland All In The Family For These 19 Cast Members

ANAHEIM, CA — Four generations of the Gerlach family have worked at the Disneyland resort, starting in 1956 the year after the park opened. In all 19 family members have worn the mouse ears and recently sharedtheir thoughts of working at the House of Mouse.

"I don't think any family is like ours," Mother Michelle Gerlach said. "I currently have two kids (Mikayla and brother Kaiden) who work at Disneyland Resort."

Michelle is just one in a long line of family cast members, who recently held a family reunion at Disneyland Resort. The family was on hand to enjoy this summer's Pixar Fest, where Mikayla perform in Pixar Play Parade. Mikayla is the 19th to join the family as a Disneyland Resort cast member.

"Walt Disney was unassuming, laid back, he would walk along Main street, it was just fun," grandmother Lynne Elmer said.

Mikayla and Kaiden’s great-grandparents were the first generation of their family to work at the Disneyland Resort in 1956 when the gates first opened. They were followed by their grandmother, Lynne, mother, Michelle, and several other relatives.

In fact, working at Disneyland Resort has become a family tradition for the Gerlach's.

“To carry on this family tradition is an honor,” Mikayla said. “The Disneyland Resort is my family’s home away from home, and it’s a great place to work! It's all because of the legacy my great Grandmother started."

According to Lynne, Disneyland has grown but still is as nice and welcoming as it always was.
