50 Cent Pleads No Contest to Domestic Violence and Vandalism Charges

Rapper-actor 50 Cent pleaded no contest Monday to one count of vandalism and was sentenced to three years summary probation and ordered to complete 30 days of community service.

The charge stemmed from an altercation in which the 38-year-old defendant was accused of injuring an ex-girlfriend and destroying property.

The rapper, whose legal name is Curtis James Jackson III, was originally charged with one misdemeanor count of domestic violence and four counts of vandalism, which could have landed him in jail for up to five years. The remaining charges were dismissed in exchange for his plea.

He remains under order to stay away from the ex-girlfriend, model Daphne Narvaez, and has already paid $7,100 in restitution to her, according to court officials. In addition, he was ordered to pay $2,392 in fines.

The singer was accused of kicking open a bedroom door and kicking Narvaez after she locked herself in a bedroom of a Toluca Lake condominium during an argument on June 23.

Police called to the condo found broken chandeliers and furniture throughout the residence and a ransacked closet with Narvaez' clothing thrown all over the floor, according to the City Attorney's Office.

Jackson will be allowed to complete his community service in his native New York, according to the court's Public Information Office.
