The cause of the big outage is still under investigation, but it is likely that it had something to do with the high winds all over the Southland that the National Weather Service warned might cause outages. As of 1 p.m. Thursday, winds are currently blowing at 25 mph in Northridge, and the city is under a Wind Advisory until 6 p.m. Thursday.
Southern California Edison is also reporting a high number of outages as of Thursday afternoon, and some are large. 293 are without power near Manhattan Beach, and 238 are without power near Hollywood.
