20,000 Anticipated Under a Massive Tent for 'Easter at Porter Ranch'
The tent services have become an annual event for the community and the 10,000-member Porter Ranch church, also known for its annual 4th of July Spectacular.
Shepherd of the Hills Church is prepared to welcome 20,000 worshippers to its two Easter Sunday services under a 50,000 square foot tent structure, set in an open meadow in Porter Ranch.
The tent services have become an annual event for the community and the 10,000-member Porter Ranch church, also known for its annual 4th of July Spectacular that draws 50,000 people each year.
“Every year we get so excited as Easter approaches,” said Paula Cracium, Shepherd’s director of development and event coordinator. “Celebrating Easter is of immense significance to us as a Christian church and the enormous tent allows us to have a community-wide celebration, which we always love to do, and gives our whole church family a chance to be together at the same time. And, finally, the beautiful meadow that the tent sets on is such a lovely setting and adds an element of excitement as well. To see all the families coming to church together… it’s special.”
The meadow referred to by Cracium is a large open field on the southwest corner of Porter Ranch Drive and Rinaldi Street. The land is donated for the services by Porter Ranch Development Company.
The Easter services -- made possible because of more than1,000 volunteers and 3,500 volunteer hours from Shepherd members -- will take place at 8:30 and 10:30 am. Both services will be identical, featuring a message from Pastor Dudley Rutherford and special music. Simultaneously, children’s programs are being offered in Shepherd’s main building for all children from newborns through 5th grade -- with free, convenient shuttle service to the tent site for parents.
Parking will be available at the Porter Ranch Town Center, Providence Holy Cross Medical Center, and Shepherd of the Hills Church. Free shuttle service from these parking areas beginning at 6:30 am.
Complimentary refreshments are also offered to all in attendance.
