The blackouts came on a day when thousands around Los Angeles and Ventura counties found themselves without power due to deliberate Public Safety Power Shutoffs from Southern California Edison due to critical fire conditions and strong winds. Northridge found itself sandwiched between a number of communities experiencing large-scale PSPS's estimated to last until at least Friday evening, including a large swath of Simi Valley just outside Chatsworth, near Santa Susana State Park, Moorpark, Fillmore, Sylmar, and many more.
An SCE map shows areas affected. Checkered areas have had their power shut off, while areas in beige may have their power shut off.
