$444K Powerball Ticket Sold In Canoga Park

The ticket got five numbers right but missed the Powerball number, which would have resulted in a roughly $140 million payout.

CANOGA PARK, CA — A Canoga Park 7-Eleven store sold a Powerball lottery ticket worth $444,107.

The convenience store on 21618 Roscoe Blvd. in Canoga Park sold a ticket with five correct numbers that came one number short of the Powerball combination needed for the roughly $140.6 million grand prize.

The numbers drawn Wednesday were 2, 6, 18, 36, 37 and the Powerball number was 21.

A ticket sold in Florida had the magic combination, and the owner will have 60 days to decide whether they want to accept $140 million as a lump sum, or $169 million paid over 30 years.

Another ticket sold in Pennsylvania gave five correct numbers and is worth $1 million, according to the Multi-State Lottery Association.

California law requires major payoffs of lottery games to be determined by the size of the pool rather than a fixed amount.

The Florida winner can take pride in knowing that the odds of guessing all five numbers and the Powerball number is 1 in about 293 million.
