Apartment Fire Damages Building, Vehicles

The blaze, which occurred on Saturday night, did not cause any reported injuries.

Firefighters knocked down a blaze Saturday night behind a Northridge apartment building that burned a carport, several vehicles and damaged one upstairs apartment, authorities said.

The blaze behind a two-story building at 18355 Malden St. was reported at 8:36 p.m., fire department spokeswoman Katherine Main said.

The fire spread to one upstairs apartment and the attic, Main said.

The department dispatched 41 firefighters to the scene and extinguished the flames in about 19 minutes.

No injuries were reported.

A damage estimate was not available.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
