Area Schools Earn $17,442 in Grocery Fundraising Program
See how much your school raised by saving shopping receipts.
Twenty-six schools in the greater Northridge, Chatsworth and Porter Ranch areas earned $17,442 through Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market's fifth-annual Shop for Schools fundraising program.
More than 2,700 schools in California, Arizona and Nevada actively participated this school year, earning more than $2.1 million collectively.
For every $20 spent at a Fresh & Easy store from Sept. 12 through Dec. 31, 2012, participating schools received a $1 donation by collecting receipts. In addition, schools could also participate in Shopping Nights, where they earned 5 percent of the total sales during their designated evening.

More than 2,200 schools participated throughout California, raising a combined total of more than $1.7 million.
“Schools in our neighborhood continue to struggle for funding right now, which is why we’re so happy to donate $17,442 to them to use for whatever they need most,” said Yolanda Salting, Los Angeles County Shop for Schools regional coordinator. “We are thrilled to be able to help our schools raise much-needed money and look forward to helping them earn even more this fall.”
