Body Of Missing Los Angeles County Fire Captain Found
Wayne Stuart Habell, 43, was found in a Santa Barbara canyon, officials said.

NEWHALL, CA -- Los Angeles County fire officials announced Sunday a body found in the Santa Barbara County canyon belonged to a fire captain who went missing days ago.
Battalion Chief Jason Robertson said the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Wayne Stuart Habell's death. The body was discovered at 6 p.m. Saturday at Hot Springs Canyon Trail in Montecito, said Lt. Kevin Huddle of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office.
In a Facebook post, officials expressed their sorrow over the loss of the 43-year-old captain.

"Captain Habell leaves behind a wife and three children," they wrote. "Everyone including his Fire Department family is devastated. Our deepest condolences and sympathies to the entire Habell family."

An SUV registered to Habell was found by passersby near the trail at 2 p.m. on Friday.
