A portion of the Northridge Fashion Center was evacuated Saturday night after police received a report of a suspicious device, which was later deemed to be of no threat.
Los Angeles police responded to the location just after 9 p.m. to investigate a device found in the center's parking structure "initially described as a pipe bomb," according to Sgt. John Marquez of the Los Angeles Police Department's Devonshire Station.Â
The bomb squad was immediately summoned to the scene and they determined that the item was "part of a PVC pipe used for irrigation in a planter" and it was deemed safe, Marquez said.
