Creating a Litter-Free Community
Walk your dog; Take 2 bags: one for the poop and one to pick up some litter from the streets

Walking your dog(s) is a probably at least a twice a day event – once in the morning and once in the early evening for most dog owners. What a great opportunity to aid in making your community just a little cleaner!
Just take along another bag, a grocery bag with handles, so that it is easier to carry; the plastic ones that you get from Ralphs or Vons, etc. Also, carry a glove; or better yet, wear a glove on the hand that you will be using to pick things up. Bring this bag along with you and when you see some litter, any litter, (such as water bottles, straws, cigarette butts, beer cans, napkins, etc.) place it into the bag. This bag will also give you a place to put your doggie poop bag when it is filled.
The bag is easy to carry with the handles and you can dispose of it in a public trash receptacle or carry it home and place it into your own trash bins.

Just this daily effort from all the dog walkers in the community will make s huge contribution to the cleanliness of our streets and sidewalks.
Here is a comment from a community member who follows Volunteers Cleaning Communities: “Forgot to add that you've inspired me and my daughter to pick up litter when we walk our dogs. It's sad to see all the garbage strewn around the neighborhood.”
