CSUN Receives $129M In Emergency COVID Funding
Half of the grant will be distributed in emergency cash grants to students experiencing hunger, homelessness, and other hardships.

NORTHRIDGE, CA — Cal State Northridge is due to receive $129 million in emergency COVID funding under the American Rescue Plan, Reps. Brad Sherman (CA-30) and Tony Cardenas (CA-29) announced Thursday in a joint statement.
The grant is part of more than $196 million in funding to help San Fernando Valley colleges and universities cope with the fallout of the pandemic and continuing to serve students safely. Half of the funding from each grant will be used for emergency cash assistance grants to help students facing hunger, homelessness, or other hardships.
“These funds will provide direct relief to students in the San Fernando Valley, helping them to continue their education and to graduate on time,” said Sherman, who represents most of the West Valley in the U.S. House of Representatives. “The COVID-19 pandemic has had a disproportionate impact among Valley students and this emergency relief is rightly directed to those students who need it most.”
