While serving in the House, Sherman has authored and promoted legislation supporting the environment, education, healthcare reform, and consumer rights. He led an effort to prevent taxpayer dollars from being used to bailout Wall Street firms, helped create the Consumer Financial Protection Agency, and helped secure millions of dollars to complete the Backbone Trail through the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. He has advocated independence from the Aliso Canyon Oil Field.
Reed, 61, is an actor and business owner who ran with the slogan "Break the Brad Habit." He currently sits on the Community Advisory Board for the KCET television station. He also hosts an internet radio show called the Voice of Reason, where he discusses topical issues with a Democrat. Reed has also been active in fights to stop the VA Sepulveda and West Los Angeles Medical Center from developers. He wants to create mandatory drug treatment programs for people with "proven" drug addictions, reforming what he deems the "Homeless Industrial Complex", and providing benefits and care to returning veterans.
