Dodgers Ship Off Puig, Kemp In Blockbuster Trade

The Dodgers cleaned house Friday in a move that saw four players traded to the Reds for a pitcher and two minor leaguers.

LOS ANGELES, CA — The Dodgers shipped off Yasiel Puig, Matt Kemp, catcher Kyle Farmer, and left-hander Alex Wood to the Cincinnati Reds on Friday in a blockbuster trade deal.

The deal, first reported by the Los Angeles Times, represents something of a house-cleaning for a team that fell just short of baseball's grand prize two years running. In return, the Dodgers will get right-hander Homer Bailey and two minor leaguers, according to the newspaper. It's a move designed to save the team millions of dollars in salaries.

According to the Times, the Dodgers will also give $7 million to the Cincinnati Reds. Even with Bailey's $23 million contract, LA will still shed about $20 million off the books with the trade.
