CHATSWORTH, CA — A brush fire scorched about an acre of grass in Chatsworth Monday night before firefighters got the upper hand.

The blaze started near 10547 Boulder Ridge at around 8:30 p.m., according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department. The Los Angeles County Fire Department assisted in battling the blaze in an aggressive effort to stop it from growing out of control. By 9:15 p.m., crews had stopped the fire's forward progress, according to Stewart.

"It is difficult to access so it will take time to get the handlines fully around the perimeter," she reported. "There are no structures damaged or threatened and no injuries reported. Crews will continue to mop up and get handlines in place."
