Fri 4/26 Singer/Songwriter Garret Swayne at The Guitar Merchant!

A fresh new voice in the LA Folk rock music scene, Garret Swayne is widely recognized not only for his formidable vocal and instrumental skills, but also as a master song craftsman. His iconic songs are infectious, arresting, even haunting. They reveal a profound intelligence, but at the same time, they resonate with a full palette of deep emotion. The end result is immensely appealing-songs that engage both the mind and the heart. With an elegant style and a warm easy presence, you usually leave a Garret Swayne show touched on some level…and with his songs resounding pleasantly in your brain on the way home.

On Friday April 26th from 8-10pm, Garret will present a program of original songs at the Guitar Merchant, 22805 Saticoy St., West Hills, CA 91304, a West San Fernando Valley music store with a comfortable concert stage in the back, a terrific sound system, and fine acoustics! Joining Garret will be Chad Watson on bass and Scott Firestone on drums/percussion.

An accomplished singer/songwriter designated as "The Best-Kept Secret in LA," Garret candidly spoke with the Patch about his upcoming performance. In his own words, Garret reveals the significance of the special occasion and why you won't want to miss this magnum opus!

"Recently, I've been performing mostly in noisy bars where the music has to compete with blenders mixing margaritas, sports on TV, and loud drunks who could care less about the "deep thoughts" of a brooding songwriter! But next Friday April 26th, all that changes! I get to play a real CONCERT venue! My songs are thoughtful, compelling. They tell interesting stories, woven in with the music. Some are funny. Some are wistful. They need to be heard in an environment where the subtleties won't be lost. The Guitar Merchant is a quaint little music store in West Hills that also happens to boast a wonderful concert stage in the back, a terrific sound system and great acoustics!

Joining me again will be my good friend, drum maestro Scott Firestone, and for the first time, bass legend Chad Watson, who has played with the likes of Charlie Rich, Freddy Fender, Janis Ian, and many other such luminaries.We have to rent the space, so we're asking a $10 donation to cover the cost, but no one will be turned away if they can't afford that. We want you to hear our Music!

The Guitar Merchant of course has no liquor license (Duh, it's a music store!), so they can't sell alcohol. But they tell us, YOU'RE WELCOME TO BRING YOUR OWN! So if a beer or two might hit the spot for you while you're watching us do our thing, go right ahead and crack one open! (Just drink responsibly.)

This will be a very special show. It will be a true Concert and I am excited at the prospect! If you haven’t heard any of my new songs, they are really among the best I've ever written!
