Granada Hills House Fire Reportedly Caused By BBQ Explosion
LAPD crews have extinguished a house fire in Granada Hills that started outside and spread to the attic.
GRANADA HILLS, CA — LAPD crews have put out an attic fire in Granada Hills that appears to have started from a barbecue propane tank. No injuries have been reported.
The fire in a single-story, single-family home on the 17300 block of Kingsbury Street in Granada Hills was reported just after 2 p.m. Monday. An explosion reportedly preceded the fire, which extended into the home’s attic, according to the LAPD. The explosion may have come from a barbecue propane tank, but the cause is still under investigation.
31 firefighters extinguished the blaze in 27 minutes. Crews need to cut through a double roof and excessive storage in the attic, which required additional time to make sure the fire was fully extinguished.
