Grocery Outlet Donates $1000 To Homeless Charity

The new supermarket also donated to four other local schools and charities, including Chatsworth Charter High and Superior Street Elementary

CHATSWORTH, CA — At a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Grocery Outlet store in Chatsworth, owners Christopher and Lisette Herrera donated $1,000 to Pastor Kathy Huck, who runs the homeless outreach organization About My Father’s Business.

The Canoga Park organization aims to help the unhoused gain access to shelter and permanent housing, and provides them with food, water, hygiene products, encampment cleaning supplies, and more.

The store also donated a $100 gift certificates to five local organizations:

Councilmember John Lee also attended the Wednesday opening ceremony, where he presented a framed certificate to the owners.

The new 18,000 square foot Grocery Outlet, located on 9805 Mason Ave., is the discount chain's third location in the San Fernando Valley, after Burbank and Sun Valley.

Grocery Outlet was founded in 1946 in San Francisco, and currently has 375 locations in California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Idaho, and Pennsylvania. It is known for its low prices on overstock and closeout products from private-label groceries, and offers a full range of foods, as well as produce, meat, beer, wine, and health and beauty products.
