Heat Advisory Issued In Northridge And Chatsworth

Temperatures are expected to rise into the triple digits for at least three days throughout the San Fernando Valley.

NORTHRIDGE, CA — The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the San Fernando Valley, where temperatures are expected to climb into triple digits Thursday.

The advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. Thursday to 9 p.m. Saturday, and has also been issued in the San Gabriel Valley, the Santa Clarita Valley, the Santa Monica Mountains, and the interior and coastal valleys in Ventura County.

Highs will reach 102 in Northridge, go up to 105 on Friday, and stay at 103 Saturday. Temperatures over the next few days are expected to remain in the upper 90s.

Chatsworth is expected to reach a high of 100 on Thursday, 102 on Friday, and 96 on Saturday.

“Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors,” the National Weather Service advised. “Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.”

The Weather Service wearing loose-fitting clothing, and knowing the signs of heat stroke, which include high body temperature, altered mental state or behavior, headache, and racing heart rates.
