LAPD Shoots Woman At Winnetka Motel
Police shot a trespassing suspect on Vanowen Street, one of two LAPD shootings overnight.
WINNETKA, CA — Police shot and wounded a woman at a hotel on Vanowen Street early Thursday morning.
The woman remains hospitalized in stable condition, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. According to the LAPD, she was armed with a handgun when police shot her. It was one of two LAPD shooting overnight — the other was a fatal shooting in Southeast L.A.
Officers were called to handle a trespassing report at the Best Western Canoga Park Motor Inn at 20122 Vanowen St., near Winnetka Avenue, about 2:30 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

"Officers responded to a radio call of a female trespass suspect ...," an LAPD statement said. "When they arrived they went to the room (where) the woman was said to be and found her there armed with a handgun; at that time there was an officer-involved shooting."
The woman suffered a "non life threatening gunshot wound" and was taken to a hospital in stable condition, police said. Her name was not immediately released.

No officers were injured. A handgun was recovered at the scene.
