The gymnast in order to fight back against the Corona Virus stopped using voice speech to prevent spray and spread, increased the washing of their hands, and made no contact, while using all the signs of American Sign Language (A.S.L.) they had learned over the last few months to communicate. In the following days of the same week, they athletes added an average 4 new signs a day for a total of 16-20 new signs, and now they can actually use the combination to get through an entire practice. Yaay! "I love that they love to sign, and was open to learn so they could welcome our young Deaf/deaf community into the program", said Elyon Williams, Head trainer at Dynamo Elite Gymnastics International. Although we all are very much beginners, we love sign language! We, both athlete's and trainers have had great experiences communicating outside, away from gym where learning sign has helped us to connect with Deaf/deaf individuals. The smiles from the Deaf community and positive experiences to help us learn more about Deaf culture just makes us want to learn more. In fact, Dynamo Elite Gymnastics International is the only gymnastics program we know of to date in the San Fernando Valley area which conduct classes and recreational competitive gymnastics training sessions for both Deaf/deaf and hearing athletes ages 6-14. And, in this case, the gymnast led by assistant coaching helper Sara G and team mate Maya V. have taken on sharing ASL with all of our class students in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. True leadership, youth teaching youth.

Gomez (Assistant team captain-and team ASL leader "at 8 years old") and (M. Villarreal, and A. Wallace-ASL supporting team members).
