Madera Fire Contained, One Lane Of Westbound 118 Reopens
Firefighters are cleaning up after a 10.6 acre brush fire that broke out near Madera Road in Simi Valley.
SIMI VALLEY, CA — Firefighters are mopping up the 10.6 acre Madera Fire that shut down a portion of the 118 Freeway. As of 3:20 p.m., one lane of the westbound 118 at Madera Road has been reopened, CalTrans reported.

The fire was reported shortly after 1 p.m. in the 2800 block of Madera Road, according to the Ventura County Fire Department. The blaze grew to about 10 acres by 2 p.m., prompting the closure of all westbound lanes on the 118 from Madera Road to Collins Drive.

By 2 p.m., officials told ABC7 News they were making “good progress” toward containment, and by 3:15 p.m. VCFD reported that firefighters were in the mop-up phase and will be for several hours.
