Man Killed In Metrolink Accident Identified

Officials said it's unclear what the 35-year-old man was doing on the tracks.

Authorities today identified a pedestrian who was struck and killed by a Metrolink train in the Northridge area.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics sent to the 8300 block of Balboa Boulevard at 7:40 a.m. Thursday pronounced the man dead at the scene. No one was hurt on the train.

The man was identified today as 35-year-old Jesus Hernandez, whose home town was unknown, said coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter. It was unclear what he was doing on the tracks, Winter said.

Train number 101, carrying 70 passengers, was heading north from Union Station in downtown Los Angeles, bound for Moorpark in Ventura County, when it struck the pedestrian, said Jeff Lustgarten of Metrolink.
