Ventura Line Adds Saturday Service To Northridge, Chatsworth

Starting May 29, hop on the train in Northridge and Chatsworth, with child and weekend pass discounts available.

NORTHRIDGE-CHATSWORTH, CA — Metrolink announced that it is adding Saturday train service to Northridge, Chatsworth, and Van Nuys as part of its Ventura County Line. Starting May 29, trains in downtown Burbank, Glendale, and the Burbank Airport are also expanding Saturday service.

Inbound trains to Union Station will arrive at 9:18 a.m. in Chatsworth and 9:25 in Northridge, and arrive at 10:07 a.m. Returning trains, which end at Moorpark, will arrive in Northridge at 5:08 p.m. and Chatsworth at 5:14 p.m. See here for an updated schedule.

Riders can also purchase a $10 weekend day pass for unlimited rides on Metrolink trains on the Saturday that the pass was purchased. Sunday service is still not available on the Ventura County Line.

Free service is also provided during the weekends for up to three children 17 or younger who are traveling with a paying adult.

“Now that health and social conditions are steadily improving from the COVID-19 pandemic, we see a burgeoning demand for weekend leisure travel. Metrolink’s new Saturday service on the Ventura County will help families get out and explore Southern California again,” said Metrolink board member and Ventura County Transportation Commission Vice Chairman Tony Trembley.

Officials hope Saturday service and free child rides might encourage families to skip traffic and visit destinations along the route, like Angels Flight Railway, the Grand Central Market, Grand Park, and more.

“Saturday service has been an oft-requested addition by Ventura County Line customers in Metrolink’s recent rider surveys,” Metrolink CEO Stephanie Wiggins said. “We’re delighted to see it come to fruition as summer gets into full swing, so families can get out and enjoy the beauty of our region.”
