Northridge Residents Can Get COVID-19 Tests Without Appointments

LOS ANGELES, CA — From now on, Angelenos can get COVID-19 tested without having to make an appointment. On Monday, the city changed its policy, alleviating the frustrating wait times for people who worry they might have the coronavirus.

Residents can show up at any of the city-operated testing sites Monday through Saturday, between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. and register while waiting in line.

"Since we became the first big city in America to offer universal testing, free to everyone with or without symptoms, we've tested more times than there are people in the city of Los Angeles, over four million tests across 14 city-run sites, 136 nursing facilities and over 150 mobile sites we've set up around the city," Mayor Eric Garcetti said during a COVID-19 briefing on Thursday.

People in need of a test need-only bring their insurance information or identification card if they have no insurance. With or without insurance, residents are not charged for the test at city-run sites. For those who prefer to have an appointment, it's still possible to schedule one ahead of the time at corona-virus.la/covid-19-testing.
