Paraplegic Calls 911 during Burglary in His Home, Helps Get Suspect Arrested

The incident occurs around 2:45 p.m. Saturday in Reseda.

A suspected burglar, accused of stealing from a residence while the paraplegic resident was at home alone, was behind bars Sunday.

The alleged burglary was around 2:45 p.m. Saturday in Reseda, said Lt. Paul Weber of the Los Angeles Police Department's West Valley Station. The precise location of the home was withheld at the resident's request, Weber said.

The victim was in his medical bed and unable to get into his wheelchair without assistance. But he managed to call 911 on his cellphone while the invader was in another room, police said.

Officers arrived and arrested the man as he was leaving the home. He was eventually identified as Alexander Generalao, and allegedly had taken medication for both the victim and his dog and some cash, said Officer Cleon Joseph of the LAPD's Media Relations Section.

Generalao was booked for suspicion of residential burglary, and held at the LAPD's Van Nuys jail in lieu of $50,000 bail, according to police and the the sheriff's department.

It was not yet clear when Generalao was due in court.
