Parking Crunch Solution Coming for Porter Ranch Community School
A bike lane along Mason Avenue will become curbside parking, in a six-month-long experiment.

Unexpectedly high enrollments at the new Porter Ranch Community School in mid-August created immediate parking issues.
Parents got tickets as they parked and walked their children across busy Mason Avenue to school.
The Daily News reports that a compromise worked out by local city council member Mitch Englander will create extra short-term parking along the east side of Mason Avenue.

A bike lane will temporarily be eliminated to create the extra parking in an area dense with "No Stopping" signs.

During the six-month period, the city's Department of Transportation will study ways to permanently change the median and area around Mason Avenue and Sesnon Boulevard to create a more permanent solution for bikes, pedestrians and traffic.
