Patxi's Pizzeria To Open First San Fernando Valley Location
The chain with California roots is known for its eclectic menu of deep-dish pies. And we'll even tell you how to pronounce it!

PORTER RANCH, CA — Patxi’s Pizza, a California-founded chain that serves up an array of such novel pizzas as the deep-dish Chicken Tikka Masala, this month is launching its first San Fernando Valley restaurant at The Vineyards at Porter Ranch.
The eatery will open July 27 for outdoor dining on its 40-seat patio and for takeout. The establishment also features an indoor dining room, with seating for 80, that will open when health mandates allow.
Patxi's started in 2004 in Silicon Valley's Palo Alto as a venture between two friends. One was pizza lover and entrepreneur Bill Freeman, and the other his pizza-making pal, Francisco Azpiroz, who went by the nickname "Patxi" — hence the pizzeria's moniker — pronounced "PAW-cheese," by the way.

The Patxi's brand was aquired in 2018 by Elite Restaurant Group, an operator of eateries coast-to-coast, including Slater’s 50/50, Daphne’s and Marie Callender’s. There are roughly a dozen Patxi's restaurants throughout California, along with a handful in Colorado and Seattle. In the Southland, a Patxi's locale is on South Figueroa Street in Los Angeles. Three locations in the San Diego region recently closed.
