Train number 101, carrying 70 passengers, was heading north from Union Station in downtown Los Angeles, bound for Moorpark in Ventura County, when it struck the pedestrian, said Jeff Lustgarten of Metrolink. The train stopped a short distance away.

A “bus bridge” was arranged to ferry Metrolink passengers between the Chatsworth and Van Nuys stations, Lustgarten said. Train 106 was stopped in Chatsworth, and Train 103 was stopped in Van Nuys, Lustgarten said. The passengers on Train 101 remained on board while an investigation was conducted.
