1 Dead In Plane Crash Near 14 Freeway In Santa Clarita

Authorities said the only occupant of the plane was killed in the crash.

SANTA CLARITA, CA — One person was killed in a fiery plane crash near the 14 Freeway in Santa Clarita on Saturday, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies.

The plane went down east of the freeway at Newhall Avenue around 10:12 a.m. Authorities found the plane engulfed in flames.

The northbound side of the freeway at Newhall Avenue East is closed until further notice.

The person killed in the crash has not been identified.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department said the fire from the crash did not spread to the surrounding brush.
