Porto's Will Open Northridge Location In The Fall
In the meantime, the popular Cuban bakery is selling its beloved wares at the Northridge Farmers Market each Wednesday.

NORTHRIDGE, CA — Potato and cheese balls are coming to Northridge, much to the neighborhood's delight.
Porto’s, one of Southern California’s most popular bakeries, announced this week that it is preparing to open at the former Sears Auto Center at the Northridge Fashion Center in September or October. The bakery was supposed to open in December 2020, but was postponed by COVID.

Porto’s new location at 19467 West Nordhoff Street will be 24,150 square feet, with 2,700 square feet of outdoor patio space, according to a proposal submitted to the Northridge West Neighborhood Council. Since Sears filed for bankruptcy in 2018, the space at the Northridge Fashion Center has been vacant.
To hold fans over while they wait, the Cuban bakery announced on its Instagram that it would begin selling its popular pastries at the Northridge Farmers Market every Wednesday at the mall’s parking lot on Tampa Avenue.

Porto’s opened its first location in Echo Park in 1976, and then opened its flagship store in Glendale. Since then, it has expanded to Burbank, Downey, Buena Park, and West Covina. Northridge will be the store’s sixth location.
