Redistricting Hearing Held For CD12

NORTHRIDGE, CA — The borders of Council District 12, which currently extend from Chatsworth in the northwest to North Hills and Reseda in the southeast, are going to be redrawn according to data from the 2020 U.S. Census. The Los Angeles City Charter requires that district boundaries be redrawn every year so that each geographically contiguous district is roughly equal in population.
The LA City Council Redistricting Commission will begin redrawing maps in July, and the new maps are due by December 15, 2021. Before the process can begin, the county is holding virtual public meetings to get feedback on how the districts should be withdrawn.
The meeting for District 12 will take place next Thursday, July 1, at 6 p.m. To RSVP, email redistricting.lacity@lacity.org, and a Zoom link will be provided. You can request translation services upon registration. A countywide public hearing in Spanish will be held Saturday, August 7 at 10 a.m.
