Reseda Shooting Victim Identified

A 36-year-old Reseda man was shot to death Wednesday, and police hope someone can help identify his killer.

RESEDA, CA — Authorities Friday identified a man who was shot and killed in Reseda, and continued their efforts to solve the possibly gang- related crime.

The shooting occurred about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 18700 block of Vanowen Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Jose Lugardo Espinosa, 36, of Reseda died at the scene, the coroner's office reported.

"The victim is a documented gang member of a local San Fernando Valley Hispanic gang," police said.

Police said a man approached Espinosa on foot, shot him and then ran to a vehicle that sped away. No description was available of the suspect.
