SigAlert: 5 Big Rig Crash Jams Up 5 Freeway
The SigAlert was issued in the mission Hills area as authorities contend with a jackknifed truck.
MISSION HILLS, CA — A seven-vehicle pileup involving five big rigs forced the closure of four lanes of the Golden State (5) Freeway Friday morning in Mission Hills.
The accident happened at about 5:15 a.m. on the northbound side of the freeway just before the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway. One of the trucks jackknifed, but everyone managed to walk away unscathed.
A SigAlert was issued for the carpool lane and lanes 1, 2, and 3 of the northbound Golden State Freeway until 8:15 a.m. No injuries were reported, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. The cause of the crash was under investigation.

The first calls to the California Highway Patrol cindicated at least four big rigs and a pickup truck had crashed and one semi jack-knifed and was blocking lanes of traffic, according to the CHP.
The number of vehicles was later increased to five big rigs and two other vehicles, one of them a pickup truck.
