PACOIMA, CA — Firefighters battled a stubborn fire burning in the drainage space beneath the eastbound Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway in Pacoima Thursday evening.
The fire was reported near the San Fernando Road exit about 9:40 p.m. and firefighters encountered flames that had spread to a small amount of vegetation, but were not expected to extend beyond the drainage area, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Firefighting operations prompted the closure of the San Fernando Road on-ramp to the eastbound Ronald Reagan Freeway until further notice, the California Highway Patrol said. Closures remained in effect just before midnight..
