Simi Valley Brush Fire Fully Extinguished

A brush fire that was burning eight acres in the Simi Valley area for nearly two days was fully contained by Friday morning, the Ventura County Star reports.

The blaze was reported near the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway, the Santa Susana and the Rocky Peak overpasses on Christmas around 10 p.m., according to fire authorities.

Dubbed the Lilac Fire, firefighters had to cope with 45 mph winds as they battled the flames, according to the Star.

Knockdown was declared by 8 a.m. Friday morning.
