Time to Submit Arguments Regarding March Ballot Measures

Ballot arguments in favor of and against these measures will be published in the Voter Information Pamphlet which is mailed to all voters.

The City Council has voted to place on the March 2015 Primary Nominating Election ballot these two measures:

  • New City Election Dates and Schedules; One-time Adjustment to Align Terms with New Election Dates by 2020. Charter Amendment 1.
  • New Election Dates and Schedules for the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD); One-time Adjustment to Align Terms with New Election Dates by 2020. Charter Amendment 2.

Los Angeles City Clerk Holly L. Wolcott announced Tuesday that Council President Herb J. Wesson, Jr. is calling upon individuals and organizations who wish to write arguments concerning the measures to appear on the City of Los Angeles March 2015 Primary Nominating Election ballot to submit requests to him no later than 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1.

Ballot arguments in favor of and against these measures will be published in the Voter Information Pamphlet which is mailed to all registered voters.

Council President Wesson will designate applicants from the request pool to be considered by the City Council’s Rules and Elections Committee at its special meeting on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. Designated authors will be notified by the City Clerk and provided with the necessary forms and detailed instructions.

The attached letter from Council President Wesson further explains the ballot measure argument submission process. Also attached is the form to request to be the designated author of a ballot argument in favor of or against a measure.

The Office of the City Clerk - Election Division administers elections for the City of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Unified School District, and the Los Angeles Community College District. The City’s Primary Nominating Election will be held March 3, 2015 and the General Municipal Election will be held May 19, 2015.
