Tree Falls On Car In Northridge
Winds of up to 40 mph caused power outages and toppled a tree onto a Northridge woman's car on Sunday.
NORTHRIDGE, CA — It may not have been quite the Valentine Lilibeth Orozco was hoping for. On Sunday morning, she learned that a giant tree had fallen on top of her car after she went to walk her dog.
"I saw the construction crew and I remembered that I'd parked my car here," Orozco, a resident of Superior Street in Northridge, told ABC7 News. "So I went ahead and checked to make sure that nothing happened to my car. Unfortunately, I got closer and my car was the one with the [tree] trunk on it."
Her gray Honda Civic was heavily dented on the left side, but still appears to be functional. No injuries were reported.

The tree toppled Saturday night, when winds of over 60 miles an hour left power lines tangled up in branches, which cut off power on Saturday night. The wind knocked over trees and dining tents throughout the San Fernando Valley, and caused the Superior Street tree to block the entire roadway. LADWP crews restored power and chopped the tree into pieces with chainsaws and a hydraulic crane after it landed on the car, according to ABC7 News.
In nearby Reseda, powerful gusts ripped a tree out of the ground onto the roadway, according to CBSLA.

"The winds - I had never heard them that loud, and I've lived here 25 years. It was unbelievable," resident Nancy Anderson told ABC7 News.
