Victim in Fatal Chatsworth Crash Identified

A man who was killed when the box truck he was driving slammed into the back of an armored truck in Chatsworth was identified by the coroner's office Monday as a 37-year-old Monrovia resident.

Emir Ricardo Velande-Flores was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which happened at 1:50 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Chatsworth Street and DeSoto Avenue.

Two others were injured, according to an officer with the Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Division.

The armored truck was stopped, about to make a left onto Chatsworth Street, when it was rear-ended by the southbound box truck, she said.
