VIDEO: An SUV Explodes in a Chatsworth Alley

The car's horn was also stuck on for the duration of the fire.

An SUV parked in an alley near Plummer Street and Mason Avenue in Chatsworth exploded at about 12:40 a.m., Wednesday, awakening Patch reader Rafael Dinner, who shares his video and photos.

"There was an initial loud boom and successive booms over the course of the fire." he said in an email.

"You can see in the video that the car was thoroughly engulfed in flames rather than the fire being localized to the gas tank. The car's horn was also stuck on for the duration of the fire," he said.

Before shooting the video, Dinner said, "I called 911 about two minutes after the initial boom, after initially seeing the flames."

The firefighters got here pretty quickly, and were successful at stopping the fire and the car's horn within about 15 minutes. I saw no evidence that anyone was in the car, or that anyone at all was hurt during the whole thing," he reported.
