Volunteers Needed to Pack Hand Wash Kits for the Homeless

Chatsworth non-profit has a "Safer at Home" project to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

(LAHSA)

Are you looking for a meaningful project to help fill the time at home? Help prevent the spread of COVID-19 by helping the Get Together Foundation (GTF), a non-profit organization located in Chatsworth, pack hand-washing kits for the homeless.

Packing kits is an ideal project for all ages. Families can participate in the project together at home or individuals my arrange hours to pack at the facility at an independent work station. The kits, containing soap, water, paper towels and info cards, are being distributed around Los Angeles County. The Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) and Los Angeles Sheriff's Department distribute kits to the homeless populations not near washing stations or shelters. Other agencies are--or will soon be--distributing kits as they become available, such as Los Angeles Council District 12, Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission, Project Angel Food as well as local churches and help organizations.

Kits can be arranged to be picked up curbside at GTF headquarters, located at 21900 Plummer Street, near Topanga Canyon Boulevard. If you have the ability to pack kits but no transportation, please contact us with your interest to possibly arrange drop off and pick up.
