West Hills Man Killed In Woodland Hills Wreck

A 59-year-old man killed in Woodland Hills Wednesday when his car was broadsided was from West Hills.

WOODLAND HILLS, CA — Authorities Thursday identified a motorist who was killed when his car was broadsided by an SUV in Woodland Hills.

The collision was reported at 1:37 p.m. Wednesday on Shoup Avenue near Summit Vue Drive, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

William Rice, 59, of West Hills died at the scene, the coroner's office reported.

The SUV was traveling southbound on Shoup when it struck the car, which had just pulled onto the road, Humphrey said. He noted that Rice's car was pushed some distance from the point of impact.

The woman who was driving the SUV suffered no visible injuries but was taken to a hospital to be evaluated. The circumstances of the crash were under investigation.
