Wife of Slain TSA Agents Speaks of Husband's Life

Ana Hernandez addresses the media outside of her Porter Ranch home a few days after her husband, Gerardo Hernandez, was killed in a shooting at LAX.

The wife of the TSA agent fatally shot during last Friday's Los Angeles International Airport shooting spoke Monday about how much he loved his family and job, ABC7 reports.

Gerardo Hernandez, 39, was married to Ana Hernandez for 15 years and together, they had two children they were raising out of their Porter Ranch home. He migrated from El Salvador when he was 15 started working for the TSA in 2010 and was always proud of his job, his wife said.

"He was always excited to go to work and enjoyed the interaction with the passengers at LAX. He was a joyful person, always smiling. He took pride in his duty for the American public and for the TSA mission," Ana Hernandez said.

Gerardo Hernandez was allegedly gunned down at Terminal 3 at 9:20 a.m. by 23-year-old Anthony Ciancia and died less than two hours later at UCLA Medical Center, making him the first TSA employee to die in the line of duty since the agency was formed after 9/11. He was the sole fatal victim of the shooting.
